I did…kind of.  While not totally opposed to that idea I had some difficulty totally accepting the idea of serving a God that I was having a hard time getting to know.  The Church spoke of a personal, loving God, but they were not able to help me figure out how to develop a meaningful personal relationship with Him. This was a major source of frustration throughout my college years and prevented me from joining the priesthood.  It wasn’t until a met my future wife my senior year of college that I was introduced to Jesus personally at a local bible study we began attending together.  After accepting Christ as my Lord and Savior I graduated college and worked for several years at a high tech firm in the Silicon Valley.  Feeling a call to ministry I subsequently quit my job and spent the next few years preparing to serve.  A few years later with an MA from Western Seminary and a Ph.D. from Oregon State under my belt I joined the staff of Calvary Church, Los Gatos.  I served at Calvary for a little over 8 years before leaving staff to begin a 25 year ministry as a consultant to churches and faith-based organizations on all aspects related to the “business” side of ministry.  I retired as a full-time consultant in late 2019 now served part-time with the Association as its chief financial officer and an internal consultant to member churches.
